Our nursing home workers just voted overwhelmingly to RATIFY our new master contract with the Illinois Association of Health Care Facilities (IAHCF). This historic contract represents the largest two year increase in the rate of pay for our nursing home members in the history of the Union and raised standards across the entire nursing home industry. Our amazing members’ strength, tenacity, and unity made this victory possible – including our willingness to #StrikeForOurLives to protect our residents and co-workers and hold the industry accountable. Over 6,000 of our frontline caregivers were prepared to strike at 64 facilities in the Association to get us the crucial wages and resources to do our jobs caring for our residents, supporting families, and standing up for our fellow nursing home workers.

This is the power of having a union to fight our rights and to have a real voice on the job! When we win a historic contract like the one we just ratified, it means we are able to fight for even more for our workers, organize new leaders into our union, and continue to build our power!  Our work made this victory possible! 

Some highlights of our two year historic victory include:

• Workers above wage scale will get a $2 increase in year 1 and a 4% increase on May 1, 2021
• $15 floor for all Chicago workers year 1
• Establish statewide wage standards at the beginning of year 2
• Minimum 16% – 24% wage increases in the pay scale for all workers in year 1
• Additional $2 hourly Covid-19 (hazard pay) for ALL workers
• Additional 5 paid sick days for all workers

¡Nos complace anunciar que los trabajadores de hogares de ancianos han logrado una victoria histórica! Esta victoria fue el resultado de la unidad y el valor de nuestros más de 6,000 trabajadores del hogar de ancianos en 64 instalaciones que estaban dispuestos a

#HuelgaPorNuestrasVidas para obligar a los propietarios a cumplir con nuestras demandas y proteger a nuestros residentes.

Este contrato representa el mayor aumento de dos años en la tasa de pago para los miembros de nuestros hogares de ancianos en la historia de la Unión.

¡Cuando LUCHAMOS ganamos!

Algunos aspectos destacados de nuestra victoria histórica de dos años incluyen:

• Los trabajadores por encima de la escala salarial obtendrán un aumento de $2 en el año 1 y un aumento del 4% el 1 de mayo de 2021
• Piso de $15 para todos los trabajadores de Chicago año 1
• Establecer estándares salariales a nivel estatal al comienzo del año 2
• Mínimo 16% – 24% de aumento salarial en la escala salarial para todos los trabajadores en el año 1
