Earlier this week the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board had a meeting where Advocate Healthcare asked the board for permission to proceed with a merger outside of Illinois. We made sure to have our voices be present for this discussion to protest the merger and we’re proud to announce that we were successful! 

“When we stepped into the hearing the entire mood shifted in the room; our presence alone was powerful. As healthcare workers we had to bring awareness to the harmful consequences from hospital mergers and how they end up taking away essential services that our communities desperately need. When the board voted to not allow the merger to go through it was such a gratifying feeling. When we stand up and fight together we can create real change!”
