Help at Home Workers: It’s Time to Vote YES to Implement Our Raises!
Congratulations! We have reached a Tentative Agreement with Help at Home over wages, seniority increases, COVID-19 protections, and Cares Act Provider Relief Funds for Illinois home care workers.
We recommend you VOTE YES to approve our new raises, seniority increases, and COVID-19 protections so they can be implemented as soon as possible.

Upon ratification of our tentative agreement, the following wage rates will be effective April 1, 2021, provided the IL Dept. on Aging (IDOA) rate becomes effective on that date for all Help at Home Homemakers, DCFS drivers and Adult Day workers across Illinois. See further below for the wage scale for DSP/DD workers.

COVID-19 PROTECTIONS
Section 1: Emergency Sick Pay
The Employer shall provide up to 80 hours of the bargaining unit employees’ regular pay for scheduled hours of paid sick leave, which shall be separate and distinct from any vacation and Sick Leave benefit provided in this Agreement. Emergency sick pay is applied to situations where bargaining unit employees are exposed to or infected with COVID19 at the workplace (e.g. employer’s office, contact with their consumer, contact with an infected person living or visiting with the consumer, and or any area where the work is performed).
Section 2: Hazard Pay
A bargaining unit employee who services a client infected with COVID19 will receive $7/hr. on top of their current hourly rate from the date of the client’s diagnoses until the client presents documentation from a qualified healthcare provider stating that the client is no longer contagious, or until the 14th day after the date of the positive test, whichever is earlier.
Section 3: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
The Employer will provide all bargaining unit employees with the necessary PPE such as gloves, facemasks, and sanitizer. In addition, bargaining unit employees servicing clients infected with COVID19 shall be provided with N95 masks, gowns, and goggles.
Cares Act Provider Relief Funds
In recognition for working during the COVID19 pandemic and per the
Employer’s receipt of The Cares Act Provider Relief Funds, the
Employer shall divide the funds ($7.3 million) evenly between all eligible
bargaining unit employees.
Eligibility criteria:
Provided any service hours between March 15, 2020- Nov. 30, 2020.
Provide service hours during the month of January 2021 with
timesheets submitted by Feb. 1, 2021.
Any employee not providing service hours in January due to being on a
leave absence are eligible.
Payment shall be issued the week of Feb. 8, 2021 on a separate payroll
run; union dues shall not be deducted from this payment.
