Senator Jones Pens Letter Supporting Roseland RNs’ Efforts to Join SEIU Healthcare
Today, State Senator Emil Jones, III, penned a letter to nurses at Roseland Community Hospital expressing support for their efforts to join SEIU Healthcare, which already represents frontline service workers at the hospital. Mental Health Associates at Roseland are also seeking to join HCII.
Seantor Jones thanks RNs for their efforts on the frontlines of COVID-19 and how important their work has been especially in light of the fact that COVID has been so devastating to the black community. He noted that the crisis has laid bare for all to see the disparities in Chicago.
Senator Jones noted that he has worked side-by-side with our union to fight for the healthcare delivery system the Roseland community needs and deserves.
“[SEIU Healthcare has] been a consistent and dedicated partner in the fight for economic, racial, and social justice.”
He notes our union’s successful efforts to beat back a bad bill in 2018 that would that nearly forced Roseland to close and our work since to increase funding for safety-net hospitals.
Jones also expresses disappointment in Roseland management’s efforts to sow division amongst RNs, CNAs, housekeepers, and members of the patient care team.
