At Nursing Homes Bargaining Training, Our Organizer, Lakesia Collins, Candidate for State Rep, Says Workers Need a Voice in Springfield!
(January 18, 2020, Chicago) — Nursing home workers and member leaders attended our bargaining training to prepare for our master association contract campaign. Our nursing home contract ends on April 30th. 2020, and nursing home leaders are organizing our shops as we prepare to begin bargaining.
Workers are committed to ending poverty wages and to fight for our four industry-wide demands:
✔ A wage scale that moves us out of poverty
✔ Full staffing for ALL departments
✔ A secure retirement
✔ A training fund for job advancement
We will be ready to strike and do whatever it takes to win and to protect ourselves and residents from continued poverty wages, short-staffing, poor working conditions, and disrespect.
During the bargaining training our very own senior organizer, Lakesia Collins, spoke to our fellow nursing home leaders — watch our video now!
