We’re Fighting for Safe Staffing…And Employers Are Feeling It!
Fellow Nursing Home SEIU Healthcare Illinois Members,
Nursing home workers across Illinois are standing up and speaking out about the dangerous staffing crisis in our facilities! On Thursday, we held our first large committee meeting to prepare our members for the fight for a fair contract ahead. Members practiced marching on the boss, trained on strike petition collection, and more. Our members made it clear: we demand that owners treat us and our patients with respect. Together, we plan on continuing to grow our collective power!
Employers are feeling the heat from our public campaign, but we need to keep up the pressure! If you haven’t already, check out the digital ads we’ve been circulating.

I stepped up to be part of this video because I know the power of our stories. If we don’t speak out, who will? Nursing home workers and residents deserve better, and we won’t stop until our voices are heard.

“When we are short-staffed, it’s a heavy burden on our workload. It’s like you have to be two people in one. It puts a terrible weight on your body & soul when you go home.” – Yvette Anderson, CNA, The Pearl of Hillside
Yvette deserves better. WE deserve better. That’s why we won’t let up.
DON’T FORGET!
Members are heading down to Springfield for our next Lobby Day on April 8th! If you can’t make it, tune in live on Facebook. CLICK HERE at 10:30am on April 8th to watch!
Our fight isn’t over—let’s keep pushing forward!
