VA Information Round Up: Members are Fighting Back Against Federal Attacks!

Fellow SEIU HCII Department of Veterans Affairs Union Members,

Our members have been tirelessly fighting back against the administration’s attacks on federal workers. This week, SEIU Health Systems member Eric Rodriguez took that fight to our nation’s capital, attending the President’s Congressional address.

On Tuesday night, a leaked memo from the Department of Veterans Affairs revealed the Trump administration’s plans to cut around 80,000 VA jobs. Eric—a carpenter at Hines VA Hospital, Union Steward, and Iraq Veteran—voiced his frustration over these harmful cuts at a House Democrats event, standing up for the workers and veterans who rely on VA services.

Eric, we thank you for representing our VA members and veterans across the country. Veterans should not suffer at the hands of our government officials. While Trump tries to silence these stories, we will continue to fight to ensure voices like Eric’s are heard. CLICK HERE to see the powerful statement Eric delivered at the event.

Our fight against Trump and his allies continues. Just last week, Tracey Therit, Chief Human Capital Officer for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), was questioned about the generic photocopied termination letters and the false claims citing work performance issues. Therit avoided responding to questions and dismissed the harm that these layoffs are causing.
