Cook County passed two ordinances that took effect in July of 2017. One raised the minimum wage and one provided earned paid sick time, each over a three-year period. However, the county allowed individual cities and villages to opt out the pro-worker regulations.

Your municipal officials choose to deny workers a raise and earned sick time. This election is your chance to send them a message. Vote to tell them you want a raise in the minimum wage and let workers earn paid sick time.

The two questions below will be on your ballot in 2018.  The questions will be near the very end of your ballot, so don’t forget to VOTE YES on each of them.

Minimum Wage Ballot Question – VOTE YES

Shall the minimum wage in your municipality match the $13 per hour Cook County minimum wage law for adults over the age of 18 by July 1, 2020, and be indexed to the consumer price index after that?

Earned Sick Time Ballot Question – VOTE YES

Shall your municipality match the Cook County earned sick time law which allows for workers to earn up to 40 hours (5 days) of sick time a year to take care of their own health or a family member’s health?
