Seeks to Strip Away Health Care and Training from Child Care and Home Care Providers

SPRINGFIELD-Overshadowed by the budget impasse that is ravaging social services throughout Illinois, Bruce Rauner also is making extreme demands of tens of thousands of state child care and home care workers, including stripping away their health insurance, in unprecedented moves that threaten the stability of services for seniors, children and people with disabilities.

In a report that first aired Monday, WCIA in Springfield detailed the antagonistic contract talks between SEIU Healthcare Illinois and the Rauner administration, which also wants to take away training from some 52,000 represented workers.

“Truly what the governor is offering (the workers) is unbelievable and unfathomable,” Denise Gaines, the SEIU Healthcare Illinois legislative director, says in the report.
