Care Can’t Wait!

Home Care

When home care workers can’t afford to stay, seniors lose their lifeline.

This leaves families facing impossible choices for themselves and their loved ones.

And this crisis is only getting worse. The number of authorized home care hours going unfulfilled has increased each year over the last three years because we don’t have enough care workers available to work those hours.

Our elected leaders can support both workers and Illinois seniors by raising pay to $20 per hour for our Community Care Program home care workers and by making the ultrawealthy pay what they owe in taxes so we can fund the vital services like home care that our communities rely on.

Demetrice’s Story

Demetrice has had four caregivers in five years. Across Illinois, 12.3 million hours authorized for senior home care have gone unfulfilled. We have a shortage of home care workers because the pay is not high enough. We’re asking lawmakers in Springfield to fix the home care crisis by passing SB 120 / HB 1330.
