Jesus “Chuy” Garcia, HCII endorsed mayoral candidate in Chicago, lays out his vision for members

On Saturday, January 17, Chicago area SEIU HCII members united for our annual year-beginning meeting. While a review of work in 2014 and goals for 2015 were expected, a visit from Jesus “Chuy” Garcia was a welcome surprise!

The SEIU HCII Executive Board voted to endorse Chuy Garcia in the Chicago mayoral race recently, and on January 17 rank and file members were able to meet with the candidate and hear his vision for a better Chicago.

See photos and video of his full speech below.

Chuy Garcia is a true progressive who has always had the interests of Chicago’s working families at heart throughout his impressive career in public service. Whether as a key aldermanic leader under Mayor Harold Washington, as a State Senator in Springfield, or currently as a Cook County Commissioner serving as Toni Preckwinkle’s floor leader on the County Board, Garcia has stood for living wages, quality public services, safer neighborhoods, and a strong public education system that is accessible to everyone.
